David Pipe has finally declared his two choices for the William Hill Imperial Cup.
The duo will be Bidourey and Heath Hunter – both of which hold entries at Cheltenham.
The trainer is looking to win the Fred Winter or JCB Triumph Hurdle with Bidourey and Heath Hunter for the Vincent O’Brien Country Hurdle.
The pressure to win is on as there stands a 100,000 bonus to the winner should they go on to score at the Cheltenham Festival.
It was in 2007 when Pipe had managed to complete the double with Gaspara – the last trainer and horse to do so. The only other trainer that managed to do the feat was Martin Pipe, Pipe’s father, with Olympian in 1993 and Blowing Wind in 1998.
But Pipe may be repeating his 2007 performance as the four-year-old Bidourey has proven to rise up to the challenge in the past. And the same goes for Heath Hunter.
So will Pipe be able to take home the victory? We can only hope so.
